Info Tech to jump over interstate to Celebration Pointe
November 3, 2014
Celebration Pointe has announced its first major office tenant.
Gainesville software and consulting firm Info Tech plans to build a 60,000-square-foot headquarters building in the mixed-use development in the northwest quadrant of Interstate 75 and Archer Road.
The firm currently occupies about 45,000 square feet in the Florida Farm Bureau building between Southwest 34th Street and Interstate 75 south of Williston Road, where it has been since 1984.
Info Tech President Tom Rothrock said the Farm Bureau has always been accommodating, but Celebration Pointe gives them the opportunity to have their own building and establish their own identity.
Info Tech has about 200 employees in Gainesville and another 40 in regional offices and near clients nationwide.
Rothrock said they liked the vision of a mixed-use development with office, retail, entertainment, residential and transit uses.
“We think having a new modern office building that’s laid out and designed to be optimal for our type of business, and having an environment like this would perhaps make it attractive to both retain and hire top talent,” he said.
Rothrock manages the company’s systems division, which provides software and online bidding for road and bridge construction projects, while CEO Jim McClave manages the consulting division that provides expert testimony in bid-rigging, antitrust and other lawsuits.
Celebration Pointe has already announced a Bass Pro Shops, Hotel Indigo and a movie theater. The 125-acre development is planned for 300,000 square feet of office space, 375,000 square feet of entertainment and retail space, 1,000 multifamily residential units, and 100 acres of conservation land.
Site work began in August and building construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2015 with phase 1 scheduled to open fall 2016.
